What is Clue’s stance on data privacy?

Data privacy is at the core of Clue’s values. We know that providing a health tracking app that is secure, private, and trustworthy is a must. It will always be our commitment to protect the privacy of health data, and to be transparent about how we handle data processing.

Here is what’s most important to know:

  • We will always protect your data, and we are prepared to defend and protect that promise at all costs.
  • Clue has never and will never disclose any member’s private health data to any ad network or authority.
  • No matter where you are in the world, if you use Clue, your data is protected by the strictest German and European data privacy laws (the GDPR).
  • If we are subpoenaed by any authority demanding access to your data, we will not comply.

You can read more about our commitments to data privacy here. And we encourage you to check out our Privacy Policy, where we explain simply and clearly how Clue handles data processing.

We also believe you should have greater control over how your Clue data is processed and for what purposes. The Clue app gives you this autonomy with granular privacy settings that are clear, easy to use, and customizable. When you first create your Clue account, you will be asked to set your privacy preferences and be given detailed information to help you make your decision. Once you’re using the app, you can change your privacy settings at any time. For more information, see here.

We firmly believe that as women and people with cycles, our private health data must serve us and never be used against us. Our app exists to serve our community—not the agendas of insurance companies, data brokers, or anyone else.
