Clue 如何计算我怀孕的周数?

We calculate the week of your pregnancy based on your estimated due date (EDD). With this information, Clue can then count the week of pregnancy you are in.

The way pregnancy weeks are counted is different in some countries. Clue currently uses the US-based system.

When we talk about weeks of pregnancy in the Clue app, we always mean completed weeks. "Week 6" means that 6 weeks of pregnancy have been completed (and you are ”'in the seventh week” according to the most common method in Germany). In this case, you are in the 6th completed week, based on the American system.

These are the different ways we can identify your EDD:

  • Calculating your EDD based on the first day of your last menstrual period. This is the same calculation used by healthcare providers. We ask you for the first day of your last period when you start using Clue Pregnancy mode. This date is then used to calculate the due date by adding 280 days to estimate a time when it's likely your body will spontaneously go into labor. Calculating EDD based on the first day of your last period isn't perfect though. It should only be considered an estimate because it works with the assumption that a person ovulates on the 14th day of their cycle. Because women and people with cycles have varying days of ovulation, the EDD based on the last menstrual period is considered a "guess date."
  • Using the EDD provided from your healthcare provider, based on your known date of ovulation. This is suitable for pregnancies that are conceived with Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), such as intrauterine insemination or in vitro fertilization. These EDD calculations are based on the known date of ovulation. You can manually enter this EDD when you first start using Clue Pregnancy, or if you’re already using the mode follow the steps here
  • Using the EDD provided from your healthcare provider, based on a first trimester ultrasound. You can manually enter this EDD when you first start using Clue Pregnancy, or if you’re already using the mode follow the steps here

Once Clue knows your EDD, we can then count the week of your pregnancy you are in and show this in your Clue app. The week shown reflects the completed weeks of your pregnancy. For example, if according to your due date you are 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant, this means you are in your 5th completed week of pregnancy. You will not be in your 6th week until you are 6 weeks 0 days, based on your due date as calculated by your last period start date, your ART ovulation date, or an ultrasound result. If you are unsure of your dates, speak to your healthcare provider.
